Buddha Buddha Buddha...
One of the things that strikes me as really really funny is American Buddhists. So many people think you can achieve enlightenment and still persue wine women and song... Others think that only by forceful elimination can you be happy. The entire point is that you don't need these things, and the knowledge that you don't need these things will render them useless... so no, if you achieve nirvana, you won't still be tempted by the big screen plasma TV.
So why have a big screen plasma TV then? well, we're not all enlightened...
Hell, I'm not even buddhist. I'll take the big screen plasma TV even though I know there's no happiness to be found in it... I just think it's cool and I'd love to see Star Wars on one of those suckers... oh yeah...
Speaking of which, when are they putting out those episodes 4-6 on DVD? it had better be soon...
But back to buddha. one kid in my class said "I just don't see many buddhist priests saying 'Hey, we just achieved enlightenment, let's go get smashed"...He seemed to have the idea that enlightenment is that feeling you get during the orgasm. A brief fleeting thing. but as I read it, achieving enlightenment is supposed to change your life, and once you're there, you'll never go back.
Ah well...
As for my own concern, I can't see how you can strive for Nirvana selflessly. But then, that's just me. I'm content being in the here and now, able to enjoy my suffering as much as my happiness. Life isn't about suffering. Life is about life.

Tomarrow's going to be a long day, and today ended too quickly.
Tomarrow I have to get up really really really really really way to early to go to class and listen to a bunch of ill-educated kids talk nonsense about buddha. The new-agers will gush and the mormons will argue and nothing will be achived by a classroom full of hot air. Nothing is gained by this class, but I go anyways...why? cause I'm paying 750$ for it...
And the best part is...my second class is cancelled... so I'm getting up at 7am to go to one class.
blah.
after that, I get to go to work, hope they actually have my paycheck and then take it to the bank. After that, I'll meet my love, go home, get ready for work, and go to work... I'll be done about time for bed...
It's days like tomarrow that make me want to become a writer the most... not that I don't love work and school, just that I don't get to choose the hours... I'm tired of having all my freetime surrounded by obligations.
oh well...
Jaimee and I got paid 10$ each to fill out some questionairres and then have an awkward conversation. It's for science! sadly, I got paid better to do that than I do at work. maybe I should be a career test subject. that'd be cool.
ah well, another day...

Jaimee and I took apart one of my short stories, bit by painful bit. The goal was a better shortstory overall, and hopefully (when I revise it) that goal will be met. The story is pretty good... a little weird, but that's typical of me...
I'll have the story revised probably sunday morning (maybe?). We'll just have to see.
